Mexican Qualifying

On Friday Mexico will finally begin their qualification process for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. They are in Group B, along with Costa Rica, El Salvador and Guyana. El Tri should have no problems winning this group even though every road game in the CONCACAF region can be considered a tricky tie. (more…)

CONCACAF continues is wandering journey to Brazil this week. While it is assumed that Mexico and the United States will easily advance to the final round of matches, the grouping that follows is more opaque. For those who do not know, this stage of CONCACAF qualifying is composed of 3 groups each holding 4 nations. Each team will play 2 matches against the other 3 teams in their group and the top two teams will advance to the final round of qualifying. This round starts this weekend and finishes in mid-October. What follows are quick run-downs on the Other Guys of CONCACAF. Which of these teams will survive? Do any have a chance to displace the giants on the continent? (more…)
